Helllooo everyone!! It has been a long time since we MELEPAK. Our last MELEPAK session was in January 2021 where I told myself that I was going to be more active doing MELEPAK session, but I’ve been caught up with lots of things (mainly CRYPTO related) throughout this past 18 months.
So, for this MELEPAK session, let me make up to you by sharing what I’ve been up to for the past 18 months. With that, let’s start our MELEPAK session…
What was I doing?
Ok so for the past 18 months, on top of my fulltime job and family, I’ve been swamped with a number of things on the side. I have always been doing side hustle on the side but for the past 18 months, I was heavily involved in Cryptocurrency and all that it has to offer. That’s the reason I was not able to have more MELEPAK session.
So the things that kept me away from MELEPAK sessions were:
- Niche Websites
- Cryptocurrency
- Axie Infinity Game (Play to Earn)
- Non-Fungible Token (NFT)
Niche Websites
As you already know by now, I have a portfolio of websites that I am managing and in my last update, I mentioned briefly about starting 4 new websites. Well for the past 18 months, I’ve been trying to grow these sites on top of maintaining my other websites.
To be honest, just managing websites alone takes up a lot of my time. Imagine having to manage 10 writers, 3 VAs, different SEO companies and a couple design guys. It’s not easy but I love it.
However, managing websites was not my focus for the past 18 months even if it took a lot of my time. So, what is?
Cryptocurrency
If you’ve guessed crypto then you are spot on. I was caught in the whole crypto craze saga and was heavily invested in it. I’ve not spoken about my crypto journey yet and I think it deserves a whole post (or more) on its own but let me just share briefly here.
I started crypto in 2017, back then BTC was USD1500. I can’t recall exactly how much but by 2018 Crypto Winter, I’ve invested about USD30,000 into crypto in various coins such as BTC, ETH, NEO, ADA and a few others that I can’t remember now.
Anyway, to cut story short, by the time Crypto Bull Market approaches in 2021, I was glad that I HODL most of my coins. By this time, I don’t have to put in new capital to ‘play around’ all that crypto has to offer this time round. In 2017, Initial Coin Offering (ICO) was the craze. In 2021, it was DEFI, P2E and NFTs.
Axie Infinity Game (Play to Earn)
In 2021, I was heavily invested in Axie Infinity. I was sold on the idea that it could be big and be the main P2E crypto game. What contributed to that is watching the video below. Take some time to watch the documentary and you will be interested too. Passive income with social cause.
Being one who constantly looking for ways to create passive income, Axie Infinity checks all the boxes as I am able to provide ‘jobs’ for my scholars by providing them with the Axies that they need to play the game. In return, we do split the earnings. Win-win for both.
Having tested the model with 3 scholars, I soon grew my scholarship program to 100 scholars earning USD12,000/month at its peak. (WOW right?) And as you can imagine, managing 100 scholars took a lot of my time especially during pay day. But it’s fun while it lasted. With Crypto Winter now upon us, most of crypto projects went to hibernation.
Non-Fungible Token (NFT)
Yes, I’ve been spending a lot of my time getting involved in NFT. Started with Opensea ETH NFTs, then move on to SOL NFTs and then ADA NFTs. From not knowing how to navigate myself on Discord (Yes, I am not a gamer), to being a proficient Discord user. At its peak, all my NFTs combine value is probably USD200,000. I still hodl most of them but definitely not worth anything close to USD200,000.
But the time spend on Discord and Twitter, trying to get whitelisted for certain projects, really took a lot of my time for the past 18 months. It came to a certain point where I had to wake up wee hours of the night for the launch of certain projects. I will share in another post about my NFT journey soon.
To Conclude This MELEPAK Session
So as you can see, the past 18 months have been hectic in term of my side hustle journey. A lot was focus on Crypto and now that we are experiencing Crypto Winter again, I am back. Lol.
